Answer engine optimization (AEO), often paired with generative engine optimization (GEO), is the practice of formatting your content and structured data so those engines quote you inside their generated answers.

How is this different from regular SEO?

Classic SEO aims to rank a link on a results page. AEO aims to be the source the AI quotes inside its answer, before anyone clicks. That means answer-first passages, clean fact blocks, correct schema and corroborating off-site citations, rather than keyword-stuffed pages.
