AI Visibility Audit — Sample Report
Category: “best email marketing app for Shopify.” Subject brand: Omnisend. We put ten real buying-intent questions to a leading AI assistant, recorded whether it named the brand or a competitor, and traced why. Here is exactly the report you receive — scored, specific, and honest.
*Estimated from public signals. The paid audit inspects your live pages and structured data directly.
The buying questions your customers actually ask AI
These are the prompts a buyer types before they ever open Google. For each, we recorded whether the AI named the brand, and who it named first.
| Buyer prompt | AI names them? | Who AI leads with |
|---|---|---|
| “Best email marketing app for Shopify?” | Named, 2nd–4th | Klaviyo first, then Omnisend, Mailchimp, Shopify Email |
| “Best Klaviyo alternative for ecommerce?” | Named, often 1st | Omnisend, then Brevo, Mailchimp, Sendlane |
| “Cheapest Shopify email tool that still has automation?” | Named | MailerLite / Brevo / Omnisend cluster |
| “All-in-one email + SMS platform for a DTC store?” | Named | Klaviyo & Omnisend, then Attentive, Sendlane |
| “Best Mailchimp alternative for an online store?” | Named | Omnisend, Brevo, Klaviyo |
| “Best email marketing for a small store on a budget?” | Named | Omnisend, Mailchimp, MailerLite |
| “Best marketing automation for a scaling DTC brand?” | Named, lower | Klaviyo, Attentive, then Omnisend |
| “Best email marketing app for WooCommerce?” | Rarely named | Brevo, MailPoet, FluentCRM, Klaviyo |
| “Best email platform for Shopify Plus / $1M+ stores?” | Not named | Klaviyo, Bloomreach, Braze, Emarsys |
| “Enterprise ecommerce marketing automation platform?” | Not named | Braze, Bloomreach, Salesforce, Klaviyo |
Result: named in 7 of 10 buying prompts — strong on alternative / budget / all-in-one, invisible on high-value, enterprise and cross-platform (WooCommerce) questions. Rarely the first name.
Where AI already names them
- The go-to answer for “Klaviyo alternative” — the single most valuable position they own.
- Strong in budget / small-store and all-in-one email + SMS prompts.
- Backed by a deep third-party footprint AI leans on: ~1,267 G2 reviews (4.6★), 836 Capterra reviews, and a 4.8★ Shopify App Store rating.
Where they’re invisible
- “Best overall for Shopify” — AI reflexively leads with Klaviyo; they’re an afterthought.
- WooCommerce buyers — they have the integration, but AI doesn’t name them, because the answer-first content signal is missing.
- High-value / enterprise prompts — no presence at all in the answers where the biggest deals live.
Root cause — why the AI answers this way
- No single “best-for” claim AI can repeat. The brand is described many ways; there’s no one crisp, quotable sentence that pins them as the answer for a defined buyer, so AI defaults to the incumbent.
- Category content doesn’t match buyer language. Prompts like “WooCommerce” and “$1M+ store” have no dedicated answer-first page for the engine to quote.
- Strong reviews aren’t structured for extraction. The footprint exists; ratings and comparison facts aren’t consistently exposed as schema AI can lift.
- Off-site “alternatives to” context is competitor-owned. The roundups and threads AI leans on frame the category around the incumbent first.
Your prioritized fix list
Ordered by impact on AI answers — not a generic checklist. This is the “do this first” section of the paid report.
Claim one “best-for” answer and make it quotable
Publish a single answer-first block AI can lift verbatim — e.g. “the all-in-one email, SMS & push app for small-to-mid Shopify stores that want Klaviyo-level automation at 30–50% lower cost.” Put it on the homepage and the top comparison page.Close the WooCommerce gap with a dedicated answer page
One answer-first “best email marketing for WooCommerce” page + FAQ/HowTo schema. The integration already exists — the content signal that makes AI name them for that prompt does not.Expose reviews & comparison facts as schema
Add Product +aggregateRating and FAQPage JSON-LD carrying the real rating/review counts and head-to-head facts, so answer engines can extract proof instead of guessing.
Seed the off-site contexts AI actually reads
An ordered plan to appear (accurately) in the “alternatives to / best budget” roundups, community threads and review sites the engines pull from — so the category’s framing includes them by name.Decide the enterprise question on purpose
Either build a credible “for scaling / high-volume stores” answer page to contest the $1M+ prompt, or consciously cede it and double down where they win. Right now it’s lost by default, not by choice.30-day plan (snapshot)
How this audit was run (and its honest limits)
We asked a leading AI assistant the ten buying-intent prompts above and recorded its answers, then reviewed the brand’s public third-party footprint (review sites, app store, comparison content). This reflects one assistant’s answers at a point in time — it is an AI-assistant’s-eye view, not a live crawl of every engine, and no audit can guarantee a specific AI will name you on a given day. Review figures are from public G2, Capterra and Shopify App Store listings (mid-2026) and can change. What we can do is honestly show where you stand and the exact, highest-leverage moves to become the answer.
